Each of our holiday parks are surrounded by beautiful countryside as well as a river that brings with it a whole host of wildlife. We know how important it is to treasure our surroundings, which is why we aim is to protect and nurture the wildlife in Kent.
At the Dog & Duck we are proud to be taking part in the David Bellamy Blooming Marvellous Pledge for Nature. This five-year award scheme for caravan parks signifies the importance of the protection, development and enhancement of habitats for wildlife and being conscious of the environment. Taking the pledge for nature demonstrates our commitment to helping nature and wildlife. There are five challenges to complete, one each year. We have already completed Pollinator Patch which involved creating areas of our holiday park in Canterbury where bees, butterflies and other insects can gather the nectar, pollen and food they need to thrive. Home Sweet Home – we have installed many bird boxes, bat boxes, owl boxes and bug boxes on site. This year we are working towards Special Species – we are giving Hedgehogs on site a helping hand.
Each area of our parks have been carefully managed to promote the biodiversity of the wildlife in Kent. With our private woodlands and riverside location, we are so lucky to be surrounded by such a brilliant natural environment, it is only right that we do all that we can to nurture and support it.
The team make particular effort to plant honey bee friendly plants across our parks.
